Google Play Gift Card to Naira: How to Sell Fast and Get the Best Rate

A relative abroad sends you a Google Play card. A client pays you in one. You win one in a giveaway. The card has real value, but you cannot spend it the way it was meant to be spent, and what you need is naira.

The good news is that you can sell it. The part most people get wrong is the rate: Google Play cards pay very differently depending on the country the card was issued in, whether it is physical or an e-code, and where you sell.

Rates vary a lot between platforms. According to Pulse Nigeria, in May 2026, one platform listed a $100 US physical Google Play card at roughly ₦96,000–₦106,000 and a US e-code at ₦92,000–₦102,000. Nosh mentioned that another listed ₦102,500 (physical) and ₦97,500 (e-code) in April 2026.

This guide covers what a Google Play card is worth in Nigeria, what changes the rate, and how to sell yours on AblxTrade.

Why can’t you just use the card in Nigeria?

Google Play gift cards are tied to the country they were issued in. A US card is meant for a US Google Play account, a UK card for a UK account, and so on. If your Google Play account is set to a different country, you generally cannot redeem the card on it.

That is why selling the card for naira is the simplest way to turn its value into something you can actually use.

What is a Google Play card worth in Nigeria?

Rates move with the dollar rate and with demand. As a rough benchmark for a US card, based on the market ranges above scaled to other amounts, here is what to expect:

These are estimates, not AblxTrade’s rates. Always check the live rate on AblxTrade before you sell; it is shown before you confirm anything.

Note: On most platforms, Google Play cards pay a little less per dollar than Amazon or Apple cards. Do not assume the rate you saw for another brand applies here.

The country on the card changes everything

This is the most important thing to understand about Google Play cards. A US card attracts the best rate in Nigeria. Cards issued in other countries can pay a small fraction of that. One platform listed a $100 card from a lower-demand region at only a few thousand naira, compared with roughly ₦96,000 or more for a US card of the same value.

Before you sell, check which country the card was issued in; it is usually printed on the card or shown in the email for an e-code, and select the matching option when you sell.

Physical card or e-code?

Physical cards usually pay slightly more than e-codes. On the platforms we checked, the gap on a $100 card was around ₦4,000–₦5,000, which is smaller than the gap for some other brands. Still, if you hold a physical card, always sell it as physical. Photographing only the code and submitting it as an e-code means giving up that extra.

What affects your Google Play card rate?

• The USD/Naira rate: The card is dollar-based, so the daily dollar rate is the biggest driver.

• Country of issue: US cards pay the most.

• Physical or e-code: Physical usually pays a little more.

• Denomination: The rate per dollar can differ between amount ranges. Select the range that matches your card exactly.

• Demand: Rates tend to shift around busy periods like Black Friday and Christmas.

• The platform: Different platforms quote different rates for the same card.

How to sell your Google Play gift card on AblxTrade — step by step

1. Open the AblxTrade app and tap Gift Cards at the bottom of the screen.

2. Tap “Sell Card” on the Gift Cards home screen.

3. Select Google Play from the Sell Assets list.

4. Select your rate; choose the denomination range that matches your card and whether it is a physical card or an e-code.

5. Enter the card amount. AblxTrade shows the naira you will receive before you confirm.

6. Add an optional comment if you have any notes about the transaction.

7. Upload your card; a clear photo of a physical card or a screenshot of your e-code, with every detail visible.

8. Tap “Continue” to submit. Your naira is credited to your AblxTrade wallet after the card is verified.

Tips for getting the best rate

• Check the rate before you upload. It can change from one day to the next.

• Compare, then decide. Rates differ between platforms. A few minutes of checking can mean a few thousand naira.

• Upload a clear image. Blurry or cropped photos slow down verification.

• Pick the right country and card type. A wrong selection is the most common reason a trade fails or pays less than expected.

• Keep the PIN covered until you are ready to sell. An untouched card is easier to verify.
