You have a gift card sitting in your phone or wallet. Maybe a client paid you in Amazon. Maybe a relative abroad sent an iTunes card as a birthday gift. Maybe you received a GameStop card from a giveaway and have no idea what to do with it.
The card has real value, but it is not naira. And naira is what you need.
Converting gift cards to cash in Nigeria has become one of the most searched financial topics in the country, and for good reason. The market is growing fast, the demand is high, and Nigerians are receiving foreign gift cards more than ever before. The problem has always been finding a platform that is fast, trustworthy, and gives a fair rate.
AblxTrade solves all three. This guide shows you exactly how to sell your gift cards for naira using the app.
Nigeria’s gift card market
Nigeria’s gift card market is projected to reach $2.56 billion in 2026, growing at 11.6% annually. The market has experienced a compound annual growth rate of 12.5% since 2021, driven largely by the rise of digital reselling platforms and diaspora gifting.

The difference between a physical card and an E-code.
When selling on AblxTrade, you will notice two card types listed for most brands:
Physical card: This is a plastic card with a scratch-off code on the back. You upload an image of the card when selling.
E-code: This is a digital gift card, usually received via email or text as a code. You upload a screenshot or image of the code.
Both types are accepted on AblxTrade, but they attract slightly different rates. Physical cards typically get a higher naira rate than E-codes of the same denomination so always check both rates before selling.
How rates work on AblxTrade
AblxTrade displays rates by denomination range and card type. For example, an Amazon card worth A$100–A$500 (physical) might sell at ₦465 per dollar, while the same card as an E-code sells at ₦440 per dollar. The naira equivalent you will receive is calculated and displayed before you confirm — so there are no surprises.
Tip
Always check the rate for your specific denomination range before selling. A $200 card may fall into a higher rate bracket than a $50 card of the same brand, meaning you get more naira per dollar. Select the range that matches your card value exactly.
How to sell your gift card on AblxTrade. A step-by-step guide.
1. Open the AblxTrade app and tap the Gift Cards section at the bottom of the screen.
2. Tap “Sell Card” on the Gift Cards home screen.
3. Select your gift card brand from the Sell Assets list. For example, Amazon, iTunes, Google Play, or eBay.
4. Select your rate. Tap the dropdown to see available rate ranges for your card. Choose the range that matches your card’s value. Note whether your card is a physical card or E-code, as rates differ.
5. Enter the amount of the gift card you want to sell. AblxTrade automatically calculates and displays the naira you will receive.
6. Add an optional comment if you have any notes about the transaction.
7. Upload your card. Tap the upload area and attach a clear image of your physical card or a screenshot of your E-code. Make sure the card details are clearly visible.
8. Tap “Continue” to submit your card for review. Your naira will be credited to your AblxTrade wallet after the card is verified.
Tips for a successful gift card sale
• Upload a clear image. Blurry or partially visible card images slow down verification. Take the photo in good lighting and make sure all numbers and codes are readable.
• Check the card balance before selling. Make sure the card is unused or has the balance you intend to sell. Partially used cards may attract different rates.
• Select the correct denomination range. Choosing the wrong range (e.g. selecting $100–$500 when your card is $50) can lead to a rejected transaction.
• Use the correct card type. Selecting ‘physical’ when you have an E-code — or vice versa — will cause the transaction to fail.
Avoid gift card scams
Only sell gift cards through verified platforms like AblxTrade. Never send your card details to unknown buyers on WhatsApp, Telegram, or social media.
